How Abbie Goldman Got Kissed In Venice: A Love Story For Baby Boomers
Abbie Goldman is in his late 50s. He’s been a widower for three years and his thirty-something son, Gerald, keeps telling him he’s got to find someone to date. His marriage was monogamous and enduring and his wife was the source of his life. Now a widower, he feels somewhat guilty about “cheating” on her; however, with his son’s encouragement, Abbie goes online and details the ups and downs of online dating for Boomers including Abbie’s difficulty in online searching. Needing a rest from online dating, and the fact he didn’t find anyone, Gerald gives Abbie a trip to Venice, Italy as a birthday present and Abbie leaves on a trip by himself. During Abbie’s trip to Venice he literally bumps into a woman in her early 50s named, Angela, a divorcee with two grown children and who was physically abused by her ex-husband. The two of them fall in love, but not before coming to terms with certain issues that surround their past lives and loves. The ending is bittersweet, but hopeful.
